Dr. Danny S. Derby
My name is Danny Derby I am a licensed clinical psychologist and a doctor of human sexuality, I work and practices in the Tel Aviv area and internationally via skype.
I am the founder and director of Cognetica – The Israeli center for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. The Israeli center for cognitive behavioral therapy is committed to the advancement and dissemination of evidence based practices. Cognetica is accredited by the Israeli ministry of health as an internship placement for psychologists in training.
I am also the co founder of the Israeli Center for medical psychology.
In recent years I devoted my time to research obsessive compulsive phenomena in intimate relationships and to development of clinical interventions for relationship centered obsessions and related phenomena. In 2011 I co founded with Dr. Guy Doron the Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Research Unit (ROCD-RU) at the School of Psychology at Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya. The unit specializes in the research and treatment of obsessive-compulsive symptoms and cognitions relating to intimate relationships.
Today I am the Chair of the the Israeli CBT association (ITA) and past member of the clinical psychology committee at the Israeli Ministry of Health. The clinical committee is responsible for training and internship in clinical psychology and consults the minister of health.
Recently I co-authored a book with professor Patricia Resick “New horizons – treating post traumatic stress disorder using Cognitive Processing Therapy”
In the past I worked as a researcher, lecturer, supervisor and a clinician at the “center for the treatment and study of traumatic stress and anxiety disorders in the community” at Hadassah University Hospital. I also developed clinical services and hot line crisis interventions for the Israeli Aids task force.
I received my clinical training at the University of Hartford and my sexological training at the Institute for the advanced study of human sexuality. I also trained with professor Patricia Resick at the center for trauma recovery at the university of Missouri, St. Louis.
